Army Command and NAOWA Hospital Abuja (ACNHA)

Establishment of the Hospital

Army Command and NAOWA Hospital Abuja (ACNHA) is a brainchild of the Nigerian Army Officer’s Wives Association (NAOWA) under the leadership of Mrs Umma-Kalsum Tukur Buratai former National President of the association and the wife of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai. The project was conceived out of her deep desire to complement the NA’s efforts to provide quality, affordable and accessible modern health care facility for officers and soldier’s families.

The initial concept of the hospital by the NAOWA President was to establish a specialist hospital to carter for women and children. It was to be named NAOWA Specialist Hospital. The Nigerian Army keyed into the vision and provided support in the completion and equipping of the project as a collaborative project between the NA and NAOWA. This brought about the change of name from NAOWA Specialist Hospital to Army Command and NAOWA Hospital.

Services

Army Command and NAOWA Hospital provides primary, secondary and some specialized modern tertiary health care. Though its initial concept was care for women and children, it now has the capacity to provide services such as preventive health, surgery, internal medicine, physiotherapy, laboratory and many more. The Hospital now fills the gaps and complements other military health care facilities within Abuja and its environs. These services are also available to the civil populace.
