Surgery – Army Command and NAOWA Hospital Abuja (ACNHA)

The Surgery Department is responsible for care of emergency and elective surgical treatment of clients of the hospital.

Units

The Department covers:

The Accident and Emergency Trauma Unit
The Surgical Wards
Surgical Outpatient Department (SOPD)
Operating Theatre.

The Department has Consultants in General and Orthopaedic Surgery and visiting Consultants in other field such as Urology, Paediatric, Plastic, Cardiothoracic and Neurosurgery. It also collaborates with other Departments in the multidisciplinary care of oncology cases and Intensive Care Unit patients.

There are also visiting Consultant Anesthesiologists and a highly experienced Nurse Anesthetist to safely carry out general or regional anesthesia.

Equipment

The Department has 2 well-equipped theatres with operating microscope, C-Arm Image Intensifier and other relevant equipment for a wide range of surgical operations. There are visiting Consultant Anesthesiologists and a highly experienced Nurse Anesthetist to safely carry out general or regional anesthesia. Post-operative care is conducted in the serene private and general wards under the care of qualified nurses. Outpatient Clinic Days are:

Outpatient Clinic Days

Orthopaedic – Wednesdays- 9am
General/others – Tuesday and Fridays – 9am
Emergencies – 24 hours daily
