Visiting a Patient

We realize that spending time with your loved one is important to the healing process. As a member of the family — in our eyes, that’s any person who plays a significant role in our patient’s life — your emotional support is not only welcomed, it’s deeply encouraged.

However, if you have a cold or respiratory infection, we ask that you postpone your visit, for the safety of your loved one and the rest of our patients.

Visitor Policies

Our visitor policies have been carefully considered, and put in place to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients. Our general policies are:

  • Visitors must be 12 or older. Children under age 12 generally aren’t permitted in a patient’s room.
  • Visitors under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Siblings of patients of all ages are allowed to visit our Obstetrics and Pediatrics units — including Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care units — as long as they do not exhibit symptoms of a cold or other contagious illness.
  • The number of visitors in a patient room is generally limited to four, although some areas limit visitors to two at a time. Please ask the nurse on duty for details.
  • Please be aware that a caregiver may interrupt your visit during some patient care routines.
  • If you’re ill, please postpone your visit.
