Colonel O Adole takes over as Acting CMD Army Command and NAOWA Hospital Abuja
On the 17th of March 2022, the mantle of leadership at Army Command and NAOWA Hospital changed as it received a serving military officer as its CMD in the person of Col O Adole. Prior to this, the pioneer CMD; Maj Gen IBJ Okeke (rtd) was the former Corps Commander of the Nigerian Army Medical Corps (CCM) who also happened to be his mentor as quoted by the incoming CMD whom also referred to most of the management team as his fathers, mothers and teachers.
He emphasized that the immediate tasks would be to address any challenges as they may arise from time to time especially with patient satisfaction. He called for support from everyone as he hopes to work with the dynamic and vibrant team of professionals he met on ground. He further expressed the hope that over time, we wont see our doctors, nurses and other health workers going overseas for greener pasture as ACNHA being a secondary and tertiary facility, would be a pride for medical tourism owing to its technological innovations and specialized services which it offers not just to the military, but the civilian populace as well.
Col O Adole additionally called for a seamless workflow like there was no transition and stressed that he was willing to take advise from people with real observations whom should feel free to air their views since his doors will always be open.
Official speech on assumption of office can be read below:

Protocol
- It is with a deep sense of gratitude and humility that I address you at this time. It is indeed a very special privilege to be among such distinguished high achievers and such a wonderful edifice. This Army Command and NAOWA Hospital (ACNH) is a true pride of the Nigerian Army. The feat that you have achieved as a team in nurturing this exceptional facility to its current state, through hard work, commitment and dedication, is truly admirable.
- Today marks a paradigm shift in the administration and command of the hospital. The new paradigm however, will be built on the successes of the past, your successes, and improvements where necessary that we, as a team, shall bring to bear in order to further position the hospital towards achieving set goals. Our efforts and goals must be in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), “to have a professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned missions within a joint environment in defence of Nigeria” and that of the Corps Commander Medical, which is “to have a highly regimented and professionally accountable Corps in the delivery of its services”. The mission and value statement of the hospital aptly captures these visions in service to both military and civilian clients.
- To this effect, maximum premium shall be placed on performance, service, and positive energy. We must aim to maintain and advance clinical excellence, applying innovation and creativity to deliver the best standard of care expected of this world class facility, with a view to reduce the need for foreign or extraneous medical preferences. I will be most grateful to have your continued commitment and support so that together, we can continue as a solid team that will take the ACNH to the next level.
- I am deeply humbled, but profoundly grateful to the Chief of Army Staff and the Corps Commander Medical for finding me worthy to take up this responsibility and I am confident that together with you all as a team, we shall meet expectations. Thank you.
